Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dakota Dunes, SD

• Established in 1995, Holy Cross Lutheran Church serves the new, growing community of Dakota Dunes
• Pastor Kevin Vogts has served the congregation since 2003
• Holy Cross Preschool and After School Care is a vibrant ministry to the children of the community
• Membership, attendance, and giving have recently increased dramatically--20 new members in the first two months of 2008, most joining from outside the LCMS
• Completing a new $1.5 million sanctuary addition which will provide much needed additional space and increase visibility in community

 

Deaf Ministry in South Dakota continues to reach out to the deaf across our state.

- Each year we hold youth classes at our Sioux Falls site. We gather young deaf students twice a week for Bible study and activities. These classes are aimed at sharing the message of Christ and explaining how the Bible brings that message to us.

- We also anually take our  youth on a servent trip. This is an oppertunity for them to put into practice the lessons we have been learning in class. these trips have done wonders in helping them to share their faith, not only with those we come in contact with on the trips, but also with thier family and friends back at home.

- We have also seen an increase in our ministry outside of Sioux Falls. We have been providing monthly services in Rapid City and Bible study, counciling, and support for those across our state. We look forward as the oppertunities continue to grow.

- The original Deaf ministry in Sioux Falls continues to support those in our District's largest deaf community. Regular worship and Bible studies happen weekly. There are also numerous oppertunities to share Jesus's message of hope with those who have no church home and little or no understanding of the hope Jesus offers.
